It's been a crazy week here in the E household! Hubs back is still hurting, and unfortunately I was told today by the ortho neuro doc that since relief has been minimal w/ the pain meds and muscle relaxers that probably nothing would do any better, so hopefully workers comp will OK the epidural pain meds. Either that or he's going to go stir crazy in the meantime and take me w/ him.
I find myself discouraged at the fact that money is going to be tight w/ only one income, that I often forget about all of the blessings that we do have, and I'm really trying to focus on those things.
It seems like around the Holidays I get so stressed out about the whole visiting family issues that hubs and I have, so this year even though I'm sad that we can't travel for Thanksgiving, I am thankful that I have to slow down, relax, and enjoy the holiday.
Tonight things got too quiet in our house, after a struggle over a little boy wanting to eat chicken nuggets over what I cooked You know, the kind of silence that you actually get up to go investigate. First thing I notice is that the halloween candy bag is in the middle of the kitchen floor. So I sneak up the stairs amd find him eating suckers in his bed, because "i like em more than your food". Yep.

Heaven Help Us.
I always dread when my cell phone rings while I'm at work. It's hard wired into my mom brain somewhere I think. Wednesday I was fiddling w/ my new work cell on mine and the dr's way to the nursing facility about 45 minutes away when I realized that I had missed a call from an unknown number, since it wasn't attached to any name in my phonebook I didn't worry too much when I checked the voice mail that was left. I should have been. It was Shawn's boss letting me know that at that moment that he was being loaded up into an ambulance and that I should get to the hospital. He hates to even go to the dr at all, so I knew it was a bad sign that he was actually agreeing to go w/ a squad.
My hubby is a big guy. To see him in tears when I got to the ER Wednesday, spoke volumes to me. After a lot of pain med that really did no good, x-rays, and an MRI it's been determined that he has a herniated disc in his lower back. Not good. at. all. Right now they're trying to avoid surgery, but honestly I'm not sure that it's a good thing. His nerves are still being pinched as evidenced by some of the manifestations that is going on. They're talking about doing an epidural of steroids staight into the spinal column. He can't move very well at all, and can't do a lot of basic things like shower by himself, get dressed, or lift the toilet seat up. Please keep us in your prayers, for his quick healing!
